The account of David & Bathsheba tells of David's downfall – through Temptation & Sin. But it also tells of David’s restoration – through Confrontation, Confession, and Repentance.

Our response to temptation decides whether or not we enter into sin.
David was tempted, made a choice to pursue that temptation, and then sinned.
Think about sins you struggle with in your life.
Can you see a progression from thought, to pursuing that thought, to action?

David was supposed to be in battle along with his army when he fell into his sin with Bathsheba. He was in the wrong place, not where he was supposed to be. He set himself up for trouble.
Are there some "wrong places" today where you should not be that are setting you up for trouble?

David thought he had hidden his sin well. Many times we think we hide our sins well, too, but God sees all of the wrong doings even if no one else does.
We can expect God to confront us about our sins.

Nathan confronted David about his sin in 2 Samuel 12. David was quick to judge the man in Nathan’s parable. David judged the man for stealing a lamb, while he had stolen a woman. He judged a man for killing an animal, while he had killed a man.
People often are angered about the sins of others, but overlook their own sins.
We should be as quick to recognize and admit our sins as we are to point out the sins of others.

Believers can only receive God’s forgiveness through confession.
And confession can not take place until one acknowledges that their action is a sin.
David confessed (admitted he had sinned) and repented (turned away from his sin).
Many times we confuse repentance with guilt. Although we may feel sorry for what we did, we may have no intentions of turning away from our sin.
When we confess our sins to the Lord, He forgives and gives us a new start.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

It’s not whether you will mess up or not. You will.
It’s what you do when you fail that will determine the course of your life.

What do you need to rid yourself of today, to draw you closer to God?
